1998 – James Madison University supports first Integrated Science and Technology (ISAT) senior projects involving wind power

2001 – Department of Energy (DOE) and the Department of Mines, Minerals, and Energy (DMME) award JMU initial funding for SBALP and VWEC

2002 – Virginia Wind Energy Collaborative (VWEC) formed

2003 – First administration of Virginia’s State Based Anemometer Loan Program (SBALP)

2004 – First incentives for small wind in Virginia are offered

2006 – Virginia Coastal Energy Research Consortium (VCERC) established

2008 – DOE 20% by 2030 report published

2009 – American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) projects for wind supported by CWE

2009 – The Center for Wind Energy is recognized by VCERC board

2010 – Virginia Wind for Schools program established

2012 – Small Wind Training and Testing Facility completed

2013 – Center for Wind Energy was presented the Outstanding Wind Powering America Partner Award

2013 – JMU awarded as 1 of 10 universities in National Collegiate Wind Competition
