Mission Statement

The goal of the Virginia Wind Energy Collaborative is to develop a population of people educated in wind energy topics. This includes educating the public and informing decision-makers about wind power development in Virginia. We continually support the Commonwealth and its need for reliable and affordable energy, high environmental quality, and economic development.

Who We Are:

The Virginia Wind Energy Collaborative (VWEC) is the outreach arm of the Virginia Center for Wind Energy

What We Do:

  • Attend events ranging from small community meetings to provide facts about wind energy to National conferences to stay current on wind energy updates in the region
  • Host exhibits at festivals, conferences, and expos and give wind energy demonstrations
  • Increase education and awareness of wind energy throughout VA
  • K12 Education
  • Help county officials plan for wind energy in their communities
  • Guide networks of wind energy stakeholders to help address the barriers to wind energy development
  • Provide VA residents the facts to make informed decisions about wind energy at home
  • Dispel misconceptions about wind energy
  • Facilitate progress of the VA Wind Working Group
  • Organize tours of our Facilities
